Breaking Dawn draws $30 million at midnight | Reuters.
I was on of the millions that attended the midnight viewing and really enjoyed the crowd. 7/10 ths of the crowd were Mothers & Daughters and/or groups of girls. There was also a fair percentage of guys & gals.
The mass exodus was even orderly and most of what I observed in the parking lot was a kind of organized “merging” to exit the several acres of full parking lot that held the cars from 20 THEATERS, no less!
There were no persons with flash lights keeping us “nice” either. I think the major factor was that when we decided to go to the midnight showings we as a “group” accepted that there were going to be crazy crowds and just decided to put some good music in the CD deck and be patient?
I noticed that if people weren’t listening to music they were texting, tweeting, updating Facebook or generally having rather animated conversations.
I read some of the reviews. I have no idea how those people stay employed, I mean REALLY! Did they even read/watch any of the previous works? And if they did are they so jaded that they can’t even appreciate how others might have enjoyed the movie without having to throw in that one nasty barb? What’s wrong with these people, Hell!, I’m 50, not a Cougar and very much enjoyed it. I thought the “effects” were in keeping with the book, Thank you Ms. Myers.
I didn’t like the idea of there being two “last” movies either, but agree that it would be necessary to be able to keep the details in. Why shouldn’t she, they, make more money, it’s still a free market, last I heard.
Ok, enough ranting about bitter reviewers that probably missed the boat to stardom and take it out on others that “made” it to the dock on time 😉
